THE PHYLOSOPHY OF SUCCESS

WHAT IS SUCCESS?

SUCCESS IS:

an event that accomplishes its intended purpose; 'let's call heads a success and tails a failure'; 'the election was a remarkable success for Republicans'

an attainment that is successful; 'his success in the marathon was unexpected'; 'his new play was a great success'

a state of prosperity or fame; 'he is enjoying great success'; 'he does not consider wealth synonymous with success'

achiever: a person with a record of successes; 'his son would never be the achiever that his father was'; 'only winners need apply'; 'if you want to be a success you have to dress like a success'

BELIEF AND SUCCESS

Life has different colors. It presents us with various problems from time to time. Sometimes the obstacles are small and sometimes they are so big, that one stops on the way. Looking and thinking about the obstacles of such magnitude, one starts believing that they are unsurmountable.

At this point in our life, what about asking ourselves few questions about our belief? What if someone tells us - Believe in yourself, believe in your abilities, and believe that whatever may be the obstacle, you have the strength to overcome it. Believe and you will find a way.

Our beliefs -

The focus is on belief. What do we believe about our abilities? Do we believe that we can overcome any obstacle? Do we believe that we have the ability? Do we have strong faith in our persistance? Do we know how to think and find out ways. Do we know how to pray and seek answers? Do we think that we are the winners? These are the questions that have to be asked by us to ourselves.

What is belief and how does it help us succeed?

Belief, a very strong belief in our ability gives us the strength and the positive attitude that helps us find out answers to every problem. If we believe that we will be able to find the solution, we will be excited to work towards it. If we doubt our ability, the we hae already lost the war. Belief is a very strong medicine and it works in wonderful ways.

Believe that you will be able to find out all solutions. Believe that you will overcome all problems. Believe that you will emerge successful. Belive   that you are a winner. Believe that you deserve success. Believe that you have the mental and physical strength to fight against all the odds. Believe. There can be no bigger magic than strong belief.

You can't lead a Cavalry charge -- if you think you look funny on a horse.'John Peers

So many people out in the world think as far as Motivation and Success, they are only 2 things:

1) Not worthy
2) Not good enough

And they have the most incredible potential to do the extraordinary in Success, to lead a calvary charge to a HUGE Success victory, but the think they look funny on a horse of opportunity.

All successful people used to have pocket reminders and motivational slogans. We can write down success techniques in small cards and carry them wherever we go.

Edison had a sign on his laboratory wall which read- There is a better way to do it Find it

SUCCESS THROUGH TRYING

Many people argue that trying is not good enough. You must succeed. But reality dictates that you may not succeed. You may not be as talented as someone else. A more talented tennis player may well try just as hard as you and they will usually win. You are still a success because you did your best.

When people say Dont try, do. They are confusing two meanings of the word try.

To try  means to set your mind to achieve something and then never give up.

Try in the feebler sense means: Try it once or twice and then fail and then give up. It is very easy to try a few times and then give up. Many people do this.

The difference between achievers and non-achievers is that achievers try again and again and again and non-achievers try once or twice.

People, who really try, keep their goals in sight. They think daily of the benefits of success in achieving their aims and so keep trying.

Another benefit of trying hard and achieving or nearly achieving their dream will be that their character will grow and become strong.

Trying may not lead to ultimate success but you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you did what you could. Beverley Sills, the opera singer, sums it all up in some powerful words:

'You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try.'

When we try, we need to accept that we may not succeed but we know, for certain, that, if we do not try, we will not succeed.

Trying, then, is not a dirty word. It is a word which can bring glory and achievement with it. Give trying a try and see what happens!

FORMULA THIRTEEN OF SUCCESS

One of the wisest and most practical men ever walked on earth, Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) has formulated a success formula. He used it and succeeded.

He listed out the following thirteen virtues and annexed to each a short precept, which fully expressed the extend he gave to its meaning:
1) Temperance: Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.
2) Silence: Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation.
3) Order: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.
4) Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.
5) Frugality: Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.
6) Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.
7) Sincerity: Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly and, if you speak, speak accordingly.
8) Justice: Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.
9) Moderation: Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.
10) Cleanliness: Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation.
11) Tranquility: Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.
12) Chastity: Rarely use venery but for health or off-spring, never to dullness, weakness or the injury of your own or anothers peace or reputation.
13) Humility: Imitate Jesus and Socrates.

Frank Bettger one of the greatest salesmen of America read the book and formulated his own success plan. He wanted to apply this technique for selling. Hence he substituted seven new skills which he thought would be more helpful to him to develop his business replacing Franklins seven virtues.

Frank Bettgers list:
1)Enthusiasm
2)Order: self-organization
3)Think in terms of othersinterests
4)Questions
5)Key issue
6)Silence: listen
7)Sincerity: deserve confidence
8)Knowledge of my business
9)Appreciation and praise
10)Smile: happiness
11)Remember names and faces
12)Service and prospecting
13)Closing the sale: action
