Overview: Breghild is perhaps the most politically important nation of Tirith. Its central location, wealth of resources, and strong, sound government make it a strategic and economic powerhouse. Breghild has proved its durability in a recent change of regime; the last monarch of the House of Chorster died without leaving a close male heir, and the kingship passed to Davram Gerwulf, the current monarch, without incident. Breghildi commoners have greater political freedom and are generally more prosperous and better-fed than those of other nations, and are consequently more patriotic and loyal to their nobility.

Land: Breghild is a large nation which encompasses a large range of terrain, but it is notable for containing large tracts of good farmland and navigable waterways conducive to trade. It also contains many deep, thick woods and mountainous territory which make the region more defensible. The climate is temperate with warm summers and reasonably mild winters.

Culture: Most Breghildi are simple farmers or craftsmen who provide for the basic needs of the community. Because of the regions importance, it sees many merchants and travelers from foreign lands. The customs of the Breghildi people themselves are fairly simple; they enjoy good food, interesting diversions, and seasonal festivals. Most Breghildi men wear breeches with boots or shoes and vests over top of loose shirts. Women wear long, simple dresses. Unlike the nobility of many other nations, Breghildi noblemen usually just wear more elaborate and better-made versions of the clothes worn by commoners, with fine brocade work, jewelry, knee breeches with stockings and buckled shoes, and expensive dyes.

Language: Native Breghildi speak Darkoan. Breghild is the only nation where the native Ardra interact with the urban population enough to give their language a presence outside their own territories.

Races: Breghild is a predominantly human nation, but is welcome to travelers, merchants, and skilled craftsmen of all kinds. Krennik from the east increasingly settle in the cities and dwell in the mountains along the southern border. The ruling aristocracy has long recognized that the deepest forests are firmly the domain of the Ardra, who help defend the region from outside threats.

Religion: Breghildi favour deities that promote peace and plenty. Lathos, Mirmel, and Armela reign supreme, while Olpharan and Ulik become more popular with the rise of the professional class and the influx of Krennik immigrants. The Ardra of the region primarily worship Mirmel and Orobos.
