Net Installation of MechSoft-PROFI 2000 and MechSoft-PROFI Plus

manuals

+ Font mai mare | - Font mai mic

I want to try, to split this document over kinds of servers. A file server and a license server In this document they are combined but I like to see a separate server for every task.

A file server is just a place to store (many) files (ie NT or Netware , most of the time a heavy machine

A license server (to distribute licenses) is just a place where the license manager program is running Most of the time a simple dedicated PC (his only task is to be a license manager for AutoCAD and MechSoft) I please want to use a (simple) W95 PC.

Net Installation of MechSoft-PROFI 2000 and MechSoft-PROFI Plus

The net installation is a part of the complete product package and it is placed directly on the product CD in the <CD-ROM>NetSetup folder.

The installation includes three basic steps:

File server installation;

License server installation;

Local computer installation.

1. File server installation

Only in that case that MechSoft-PROFI will be installed on net.

Installation of MechSoft-PROFI is done in a usual way described in the program documentation.

Requirements:

Win NT4.0 - Service Pack 3 recommended operating system;

Win 95 OSR2;

Win 98.

2. License server installation

License server is a computer where the key administrator (i.e. protection for MechSoft-PROFI product) is placed. Naturally this computer must be a network computer.

Requirements:

Win NT4.0 - Service Pack 3 recommended operating system;

Win 95 OSR2;

Win 98.

1. MechSoft-PROFI is installed on the licence server with the key administrator as well.

Before starting the net installation using the Prepnet.EXE file, make sure that MechSoft-PROFI and AutoCAD (only in case that AutoCAD are installed on the server) are already installed on the server.

A series of dialog boxes, named Preparation of net installation, will be displayed after starting the net installation (starting the <MechSoft CD-ROM>NetSetupPrepnet.EXE file):

Preparation of net installation

Step - introduction and information.

Step 2 - selection of component placement - MechSoft-PROFI, key administrator/protection and AutoCAD.

Step 3 - specifying a path to the CD-ROM with our MechSoft-PROFI application (i.e. the CD-ROM from which Prepnet.EXE file was started a moment ago) specifying a path where an installation for connecting local stations to the file and license server will be created (i.e. the folder where the Setup.exe and NetSetup.exe files will be copied). Connecting local station is done by starting the Setup.exe file from the local station).

Step 4 - information for Step 5.

Step 5 - list of components, which the net installation will contain.

Step 6 - enter a home path to the folder on the license server where the network key administrator/protection MSNetSvr.exe will be copied (e.g. C:MechSoftNetKey) - a name of the computer (i.e. the license server) where the key administrator/protection is placed (the name is in the form as it is seen on the net) - selection of automatic start of key administrator/protection after starting the computer.

Step 7 - specifying a path to AutoCAD on the file server.

Step 8 - information.

Now the Netinst folder was created in the home path <MechSoft-PROFI folder>NetInst on the license server where the MechSoft-PROFI application is also installed, because license and file servers are identical in this item. This path was specified in the Step 3. Net installation for local users, which is started using the Setup.EXE file, is prepared in this folder. Starting the Setup.exe file will display an offer for the product installation (MechSoft-PROFI 2000). Product installation starts automatically the installation of software for connecting local station to key administrator. Then it creates shortcuts to MechSoft-PROFI product installation on the file server to allow starting it from the local station.

Also the folder NetKey was created on the server in the home path specified in the Step 6 (e.g. C:MechSoftNetKey). Here the key administrator/protection MSNetSvr.EXE is placed.

The folder <MechSoft-PROFI folder>NetInst, specified in the Step 3, must be shared for insuring access from local stations.

Sharing setting Reading and writing

2. Only the key administrator is placed on the license server

A series of dialog boxes, named Preparation of net installation, will be displayed after starting the net installation (starting the <MechSoft CD-ROM>NetSetupPrepnet.EXE file):

Preparation of net installation

Step - introduction and information.

Step 2 - selection of installation type - only the key administrator/protection is placed on the license server, MechSoft-PROFI is placed on the local computer.

Step 3 - specifying a path to the CD-ROM with our MechSoft-PROFI application (i.e. the CD-ROM from which Prepnet.EXE file was started a moment ago) specifying a path where an installation for local stations to will be created (i.e. the folder where the NetSetup.exe file will be copied. The NetSetup.exe file is started from a local station and it will set the local station for connection to key administrator).

Steps 4 and 5 will not be displayed.

Step 6 - enter a home path to the folder on the license server where the network key administrator/protection MSNetSvr.exe will be copied (e.g. C:MechSoftNetKey) - a name of the computer (i.e. the license server) where the key administrator/protection is placed (the name is in the form as it is seen on the net) - selection of automatic start of key administrator after starting the computer.

Step 7 - specifying a path to AutoCAD (only in case that AutoCAD are installed on the server) on the file server, which is the local computer in this item

Step 8 - information.

Now the Netinst folder was created in the home path <MechSoft-PROFI folder>NetInst on the license server. This home path was specified in the Step 3. Net installation for local users (i.e. setting a local station for connection to key administrator), which is started using the NetSetup.EXE file, is prepared in this folder.

Also the folder NetKey was created on the server in the home path specified in the Step 6. (e.g. C:MechSoftNetKey). Here the key administrator MSNetSvr.EXE is placed.

The folder NetInst must be shared for insuring access from local stations.

Sharing setting Reading and writing.

3. Installation on local computers

1. Both MechSoft-PROFI application and key administrator are placed on the server

Mapping the shared <MechSoft-PROFI folder> folder on the server.

F:<MechSof-PROFI folder>

<server name><MechSoft PROFI folder>

Starting the MechSoft-PROFI installation, created on the file server from the local station, is done using the Setup.EXE file:

F:<MechSoft PROFI folder>NetInstSetup.exe

Setup.exe file starts a standard installation of MechSoft-PROFI program on local station, etc. After starting the product installation (MechSoft-PROFI 2000), it starts automatically the installation of software for connecting local station to key administrator (starts the NetSetup.exe file, which can be also started independently). Then it creates shortcuts to MechSoft-PROFI product installation on the file server to allow starting it from the local station.

2. Only the key administrator is placed on the license server

Make sure that MechSoft-PROFI is completely installed on the local station (which is the file server now).

Mapping the shared NetInst folder on the license server. This is necessary for the software installation. After completing it, the folder does not need to be

F:<Netinst folder>

<server name><Netinst folder>

Starting the installation, created on the (license) server from the local station, is done using the NetSetup.EXE file:

F:<MechSoft-PROFI folder>NetInstNetSetup.exe

Installation of communication between local station and (license) server is done. This is done only once time during the installation.

Network key administrator

The Network key administrator is placed in the NetKey folder on the license server and it is started with the MSNetSvr.EXE file.

Usually it is started automatically, because an option for automatic starting is selected during installation (MSP NetServer item is in the StartUp menu). After its first starting, is necessary to ask for a License key, which will be generated according to the Reference key. The Reference key can be found in the License manager, which is accessible by clicking the first icon License (an icon with the key) in the toolbar. The icon opens a dialog box Licenses key manager in which the Reference key is written.

The License key, which is subsequently generated by CAdis according to the number of licenses paid, is also entered in this dialog. After specifying the License key, end the Key administrator program and start it again. This will save all changes and your work at the server is finished.

Note: Pressing the button with red crossed circle will open a dialog for forbidden users and machines. In this dialog access for certain users or computers can be prohibited.

Now the all MechSoft-PROFI products can be started on local stations
